Is no one else frustrated that the architect is the last one to take any responsibility for plan errors? There seems to be some reasonable people but many who seemingly draw plans in an attempt to play a game of pushing costs onto the subs. Which plan and interpretation thereof is most beneficial to them. No discussion. You just have to suck it up because you…the sub should have caught ALL of the discrepancies between the different plan sets. Plan sets from their own firm as well as the engineers they have under direct contract. The architects and engineers never bear any responsibility.
Aaagh. Apparently Utah is one of the states that still denies seeking actual damages for the architects and engineers getting off with any responsibility to the GC or the subcontractors. Normally they contract with the owner so only the can sue under the damages concept. You can still chase them for negligence but apparently Utah holds “privity” in quite high regard. Shows who has the stronger lobby I guess.
BTW there might just be other sites willing to take on this lack of fairness. Hint hint.
