So FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests on a federal level or state level requests are sources to help you get paid. You can get access to budgets, change orders and all sorts of other shenanigans.
For example. Finding out that there is still $500,000 left in contingency funds but the GC claims poverty and there is nothing left. Or the change orders approved by the GC’s excavation arm are double that of all of the other subs combined.
Be forewarned however you may get a call from your GC like the one we got threatening us because we had asked for specific files. Somebody didn’t like us looking for the truth.
